Mixture!

18 04 2008

Yeah! I broke my own record for not posting for SOOOOOO many days. I guess most of you thought that I shall leave this blog as a dead blog forever right? Haha. How can I be so cruel to my blog? Anyway, I think I shall start off mixing up all my posts. Whatever that comes into my mind for the past few days, I shall just type everything down. I hope you will not feel confused.

I had my Ballet Exam yesterday. I think I did my best and I made only a few mistakes. I have been telling myself throughout the exam to try and smile because I want to score well for performance. If I have not remembered wrongly, for my last ballet exam, the lowest I got was 7/10 and that was for Classical Technique 3. Anyway, I am aiming for a Distinction this year. I got 80/100 last year and I was the only one in my class who got a Distinction. I was extremely happy.

Today, we had to do the Chinese Project. Ying Yan and I were in the same group and we almost couldn’t finish on time. We were rushing like mad throughout the whole time because we only had 2 hours to complete the project. Don’t think that 2 hours is a lot because it certainly isn’t for Ying Yan and me.

SOTA initially said that we can sign up if we want to go to the Pahang, Malaysia trip in May but only 30 students will be selected. Aqilah said that 15 Malay and Indian students were selected so that means that only 15 students can go. I was super excited about it and just as I was about to sign up together with Cheryl, Nikki said that she didn’t want to go. When we asked her what was the reason, she said that he had to pay $200++ for the trip! Cheryl and I then didn’t sign up for it because in Primary School, we could pay by Edusave but now, we had to pay in cash.

Anyway, like what the teachers said, there will be a lot of opportunities to go overseas so I guess I shall give this one a miss. As such, since the beginning of school, we already went for school outing/excursions like more than 5 times.

I think I am right now in love with the song “Best Friend” by Toy-Box. Ying Yan had sent it to me earlier in the day. After school when I was waiting for the bus together with Justine and Anisha, she Anisha played the song (with her handphoner) while I videoed Justine dancing and singing with the music. It was really very funny and cute but I promised Justine that I will not upload into YouTube or send to anyone. Haha.

Filming for “Mind Your Beauty”

3 04 2008

Firstly, please bear in mind that I shall keep whatever I want to say short because I am really very tired right now. Anyway, I left school early today because I had to rush to MediaCorp to film a Channel 5 drama called “Mind Your Beauty”.

These are just some pictures taken in school today:

abcd0014.jpg

Anyway, I had to maintain my energy level because this shoot needs me to have 3 completely different looks and therefore, I will have to walk to and fro to the make-up unit to do my hair and make-up for 3 times.

I did take some pictures but most of them are very unclear since they were taken by my handphone camera. These are the better ones. First up, congratulate myself. I brought lesser bags than the other time (when I was filming Behind Closed Doors).

my-bag-items.jpg

Okay. Anyway, I had to wear a wig because the script says so. Please do not laugh because I really don’t have a choice. But I still think that the outcome turned out quite well since I didn’t look like some funny monster from outer-space. This can also let me experience how it will be like to have short hair. In this way, if I want to cut my hair in future, I shall think twice. Haha.

withwig1.jpg

The good news: After filming, I get to look back to normal. I had to tie plaits and bun my hair up so that I can fit into the wig. I was seriously happy because I have never tied plaits for such a long time. I love the hair because it looks so cute!

McDonald’s Filming

2 04 2008

We had to assemble at our various locations at 1.30pm today for the Awards Day/Open house briefing. For me, the teacher in charge is Mr Jae and Miss Seah. Anyway, for us, our job is quite tiring. For Awards day, we just have to usher the VIP (minister, scholarship sponsors, etc.) to the hall.

For the Open House, we’ll be “tour guides”. We’ll have to bring parents around the school and explain to them what those places are for. There are only about 18 of us in total. The parents will be in groups of around 20++. I am the guide for Route B Group 5 (you don’t need to know what it is) and Sarah and Shu Chen are also in the same group as me. Together, we’ll lead the parents around the school.

Mr Jae gave us the lines that we have to say at the various location today. There was like so much! Anyway, I am kind of looking forward for it because I think that it is really going to be very fun.

After school, I, Ying Yan, Cheryl, Charlene, Justine, Nikki, Krish and Romit went to the McDonald’s nearby. Actually, I, Ying Yan, Cheryl and Charlene wanted to go there because we need to film a short video since our Media Education project is on McDonald’s. We decided to ask Justine to help us film. In the end, I do not know why Nikki, Romit and Krish were there.

Ying Yan and I took this picture while we were walking to McDonald’s. I simply love this picture and because we took it on the bridge.

beautifulpic.jpg

Anyway, it was kind of fun doing the filming. There was this part where we were planning to ask Krish to pretend that he was just a customer and walk pass our table. Guess what Romit suggested?

He said, “Why not let’s ask one of the customers to act for us and we pay them some money!” As a result, I started laughing like non-stop. But afterall, I think he was just joking because he started laughing too! That was absolutely ridiculous! And because we had to film this scene were we couldn’t laugh at all, I couldn’t stop laughing.

I then went to get water and splashed it on my face and after that, it was Ying Yan that started laughing because Cheryl was supposed to do the funny face thingy. But overall, we feel that it was very funny because even Romit finds it funny. Ying Yan will be editing it and hopefully, we can see the final product tomorrow.

See Nikki, Krish and Justine chatting? Nikki is just so nice…everyone loves Nikki!!!

nikkikrishjustine.jpg

Yeah! Justine and me! Justine is our class’ chairperson. Trust me, she is really very nice.

justineandme.jpg

Charlene, Ying Yan and me. Notice the similarity between the above picture and this picture? The people in the pictures are appearing at one side. I told you, my “aiming” is super lousy. I cannot take zhun3 pictures.

justthethreeofus.jpg

This is just a picture capturing everyone who went to McDonald’s today. Of course, I am supposed to be inside this picture but I am taking it so just imagine me being there. There are a total of like 8 people.

everyoneonmactrip.jpg

One last thing. I found some SOTA videos on YouTube so by being a kind soul, I shall share:

This is the Interest Group – Sports Chanbara

I found this on YouTube. It shows Natalie doing the dance thing.

The boy is Leonard from R2. He is one of the 2 boys and he represented Singapore for some dance competition and he claimed that he got a gold award. Anyway, I don’t think anyone can deny the fact that he is a good dancer.

April Fool’s Day

1 04 2008

Today is April Fool’s Day! I mean, like duh. Who doesn’t know that it is April Fool’s Day today? Anyway, I went to school in the morning and blah blah blah. Frankly speaking, I am really sick and tired of repeating the same thing everytime I blog so I have decided to skip it though.

For ARC, we got back our summary writing and I got 11/15. I was quite happy although it is not very high. I expected myself to fail because I “lifted” a lot from the passage but I guess my content marks helped me. I got 9/10 for that.

During theatre, we were taught how to make juggling balls and that was so fun. We had to put the red beans/green beans into the balloon. We then had to cut away the “neck” of the balloon and use another balloon to cover over it. Then, TADAA… Our juggling ball is done. We have to make another 2 more at home ourself.

We then had science and I did my cheek cell experiment. OMG! I have like so many cheek cells! I move the slide along and as it moves, more and more cheek cells started to appear. It was so cool! Even Sijing says it is so cool too! Oh, I know I am so good! LOLS…I know I am just being thick skins. Haha.

Media Education was such a big rush for us. We had to quickly finish up the outline for our project. After Media Education, we quickly went to the board to find out what we are assigned to do for Awards Day. I was quite shocked to find that I was assigned to be the VIP tour/capus tour. It means something like escort/usher (i think).

But I guess it has something to do with the minister because it says VIP. And when I look, there wasn’t a lot of people assigned to do this job. I guess I am so honoured. LOLS. being thick skin again… Anyway, hopefully everything goes on fine.

SuperDOOPER tiring day!

31 03 2008

Today was simply FUNNN for me! I don’t think I will want to talk about my whole day but I think I’ll just simply say whatever I want to say. First thing, as most of you already know, we are having SOTA Open House this Saturday. For more information, please visit SOTA website. I think some of you may have also seen the advertisement on the newspaper. Please help to spread the word around.

On top of that, SOTA will also be having our Awards Day this Friday where the minister Dr Lee Boon Yang will be coming to our school. EVERY single student in SOTA (238 of us) will get to take part in awards day and also open house. Some will be ushers, some will be logistics, some will be VIP ushers, etc. I am having this Channel 5 filming this Friday so hopefully, I can be excused from the awards day.

I didn’t even realised it until mum reminded me about my filming. OMG! I guess I will have to miss a fun day. But never mind because I can still participate in the open house. I’ll be performing and also ushering. Ushering is fun because you can get to talk to the potential P6 students, as well as their parents.

Anyway, we did 2.4km run today and I was extremely shocked with the result. I was 1st in class and the timing was 9 minutes 42 seconds. I know some of you may be able to run faster but I am seriously happy because I improved! The shocking part was that I couldn’t believe I could actually run faster than my 1.6km (we had to run during Primary school).

Nicole was actually a few metres in front of me when we were about to finish the run but then, I started to *act smart* and I started to sprint (as fast as I could) towards the ending point. Although my legs felt like they were going to turn into jelly any moment, I didn’t care and kept running.

And after doing the hideous run, “my jelly legs” got their revenge by making me have a stomachache. It was extremely painful… ARGHHH!!!

Anyway, skip skip. Theatre was superdooper fun today! The last 30minutes, we had to get into groups of 5 and do a performance on SOTA. I, Viraj, Celeste, Vanessa and Tyen were in the same group. We decided to do about some stupid experiment on mixing the different art forms together.

The first was theatre and dance. I had to do a piroutte (i think it is spelled like that) and after that, I say *i forget what word* and jump. It was super funny. Then at the end, we all tried mixing the different art forms together then we banged into each other and all lie down.

Viraj then came up and said, “Chemical Reaction!” Everyone then sit up and said, “Don’t try this at home!” It was so superdooper funny! Oh ya! Today is also Ying’s birthday. Natalie made her a wonderful card which everyone signed on it. *someone* bought a birthday cake which was very nice.

I also have good news! Dad’s new car will be arriving in about 2 weeks time! I guess it is time for us to say BYE BYE to our blue Matrix! Anyway, I kind of dread it anyway. Because dad will have to start installing all the VCD player (so that we can watch shows in the car).

Dad’s new car is more expensive than the Matrix but it is smaller. ARGHH!!! But it is not too bad either :D

Tag #1 5 questions and 5 answers each

Dancing is my Life!

29 03 2008

I think I am beginning to like dancing alot. I just don’t know why but I have never liked it SO MUCH before. When I was in my dad’s car on my way home after my SKIP performance class, I was counting how many hours I spend on dancing every week.

These are my time spent on dancing:

Ballet – 1 hour per week (excluding coaching lessons)

Kids Performing Pop Theatre Class - 3 hour per week (we need to get the basic dance steps right)

Kids Performing Dance Company – 4 hour per week (it is our speciality)

Total: 8 hours per week

Out of 168 hours per week, I actually spend 8 hours dancing. That is like 1/12 (fraction). I don’t even think how much time I have spent dancing unless I sit down and count.

If I don’t even have the energy, I guess I would not be able to survive that long anyway. But dancing is fun – only for those who like dancing, like me! It seriously rocks!

Today’s Kids Performing class was so fun and we learnt a new song call “I Sing My Body Electric”. The song is so nice and I love it a lot. You might want to try going to YouTube to search that song.

We might be performing this song during the Kids Performing annual concert. OMG! I think I should stop here because I don’t think that this post will get anywhere if I continue nagging about what’s so good about dance.

This post consists of three days happenings!

28 03 2008

School starts at 9am for us today but I reached the school gate around 7.35am. I was waiting for Charlene and Ying Yan as we wanted to go to the MacDonald’s nearby for breakfast together.

The reason was because we wanted to do a check on their services because MacDonald was out topic for our Media Education project. In the end, we were quite pissed off to find out that the MacDonald is undergoing renovation. We then whisked back to school but we were extremely early.

We immediately went to the hall and put down our bags. After that, we saw many people leaving the school side gate for a while so we did the same too. But the only thing is that we went out through the main gate to the park/jogging area beside the SOTA campus.

When we did the 2.4km run the other time, we found out that there was this playground/fitness corner at that area. We then went there to play for a little while since we were very early. Look at our shadow:

ourshadow.jpg

I especially liked it because it makes me feel like I am taller. But the only thing is that I look fatter too. We then spotted this “boat” in the canal. No offence but we really find the canal simply too smelly and the water is so dirty.

I think many people couldn’t stand it too while they were running the 2.4km run. Anyway, The person waving is actually Charlene. I didn’t know why but it seems like she just waved to them. Luckily, the people on the “boat” didn’t turn around.

theboat.jpg

We then hurried to the playground and played on the swing for a little while. We then did exercises at the fitness corner. I managed to succeed in completing all the exercises EXCEPT pull up. The pull up is quite different because you have to hang on the very tall pole and pull yourself up which is especially difficult for me since I can’t even do a proper push up.

The fun part was the monkey bar. This is Charlene making an attempt to climb the monkey bar.

charmonkeybar.jpg

And I must really say that Ying Yan is such a PRO! She can climb all the way up the monkey bar. Just take a look at these two pictures:

yymonkeybar.jpg

yysitonmonkeybar.jpg

I don’t even think that I can do that. Anyway, the whole day was quite fun and I had my first Foundation Arts Music lesson today. We had to do some Nias dance and we had to form a line behind the teacher. Leonard was the first one and it seems like he is the only one that is very “enthusiastic”. But I’m not surprised because he is in dance – ballroom dance.

Let’s start about yesterday. Nothing special happened EXCEPT during lunch, I went with Cheryl to get some stuffs from the locker. As we walked pass, Xian An suddenly opened a locker door and scared us. We started laughing because he can actually hide inside the locker.

Cheryl kept saying, “It was so stupid!” And Lip Jiang told us to pretend that we were teachers and Xian An will scare us. Anyway, I recorded it down and got their permission to upload it onto YouTube.

Well, in the end, Xian An got lots of trouble coming out of the locker and just by looking at this picture, it already seem very funny to me.

xianan.jpg

Anyway, here is the video:

Now, back to the day before yesterday. We went to East Coast Park for service learning. When we came back, we were immediately dismissed. As Ying Yan and I were taking Cheryl’s car back (we stayed very near each other), we waited in the hall for Cheryl’s parents to come.

For the first time, I felt like the hall became so quiet. There was so few people in the hall, only those that are waiting for their parents to come and fetch them.

These are the remaining people left in the hall except Ying Yan, Cheryl and me. OMG! Everyone just seem to lie down.

liedown.jpg

This is the overview. Ying Yan went hiding because she doesn’t want to be seen in this picture. Ah ya! Just imagine her being there lah!

liedownoverview.jpg

Finally, Sarah and me! I hated this picture so much because I seem to be fat!

sarahandme.jpg

Oh ya! And Charlene did a publicity photo for her blog too! Here it is:

I’m in High Demand!

26 03 2008

We went to East Coast Park today for some service learning Amazing Race. I think I will blog about it tomorrow. Anyway, I guess I am in rather high demand tonight. I just received a call from MediaCorp saying that a director specially wants me to be in a health corporate shoot that i fully sponsored. Suddenly, Travelyn from Kids Performing called and said they want me to be in both Pop Theatre and Dance.

Initially, I am actually in Pop Theatre but they said they also wanted me to be in Dance. OMG!!! My strength is theatre and not dance but I guess I shall just try my best. Anyway, Dance is not too bad either. At least, Jane (from SOTA) is also in Pop Theatre!

My Haiku got selected!

25 03 2008

I think I shall go straight to our first lesson. It was chinese and it was quite fun. After that, we had PE lesson and we had to do push up. ARGHHH!!! I hope I can just do one decent guy push up but I can’t!

Anyway, after break was theatre. We were told to perform whatever that we had discussed yesterday but the problem is that we didn’t come up with a good solution yesterday. Therefore, we decided to go ahead with the idea of doing improvisation. The audience will give us a scenario and we’ll have to act it out.

Therefore, Romit gave us a scenario of a classroom. We immediately got into action and started. It was like Vanessa entered the classroom and someone (i forgot who) said, “Class stand!”. The funny part was that no one said, “Class greet!”

After some time, Tara quickly said, “1! 2! 3!” She said it with her hand jabbing the numbers in the air. The way she said it was like some band doing some rock music so Celeste burst out laughing and as I was at the back, I started laughing too. It was so hilarious.

After theatre was lunch, followed by science lesson. During science lesson, we did some sort of “chemistry experiment”. We had to mix sulphur and iron fillings. After that, we burn (with fire – duh!)it and fire will start in the porcelain small bowl. But after some time, the fire will burn out.

As everyone was doing the experiment, the whole science lab was extremely smoky. Especially when sulphur is flammable and it is poisonous (we cannot inhale it), it is very terrible for me.

Suddenly, Anjali’s experiment caught fire and Mr R. immediately went to stop the fire. But that makes the room even more smoky than before. At that time, I couldn’t breathe well so I saw the door a little open. I immediately pushed it open and ran outside for fresh air.

Outside, a lot of R4 people were wondering what had happened. I felt like giddy and my throat was damn dry and little pain. At that time, I felt like I was going to faint and I was coughing like uncontrollably. I think in future, I’ll have phobia against chemistry experiments.

We then had Media Education, followed by IHSS. This IHSS lesson can be the best so far because we played games. We pretended that we were tribe leaders and we had to make critical decisions to remain as many members as possible in the tribe.

Oh ya! Everyone has to write a Haiku on wind some time back. Dr Yeo said that she’ll choose some good ones to represent SOTA for a Haiku writing competition (organised by Japan Airlines). The winner can get a free trip to Japan! Woohoos…

Guess what? My Haiku was selected. WTH. I didn’t even thought that my Haiku will ever get selected because it wasn’t my best one and I spent only like less than 5 minutes writing it.

Anyway, Ying Yan’s Haiku was also selected. We have to draw out what the Haiku means. ARGHHHHH!!! My drawing definately sucks…
